Been working hard on the illustration but thought it was about time to update the news section here on Illustration Farm! I'll soon be adding NEW works to the portfolio here so look for that in the near future.

In other news you can catch me doing things relating to the illustration industry in a few places around the web.

I am contributer/author on the wildly popular Illustration Friday Blog. I am blogging about cool and new illustrators and illustration related issues.

I am also answering some of the Q and A questions posed to professional illustrators weekly at Illustration Mundo.

Also, I am involved in a new gallery show called the T-show where the art canvas is, you guessed it, T-shirts. Look for concepts works for me at that site.

AND, don't forget about my personal blog! Where I am currently working on the follow up to the Alphabet Book.

Year of the Card

Happy New Year! 2006 was a very good year for me. I worked with many, many fine Art Directors. I released two children's books and worked on a bunch of cool "secret" projects. 2006 was the year of the greeting card for me as it has become my main source of work. In 2007 you'll see me on the racks of American Greetings, Hallmark and many other card companies so keep a look out!. It's really a dream come true to do this for a living and I thank all the Art Directors that have given me projects over the years. I can't wait to see what comes my way in 2007!

Portfolio update. New at number 29 it's a poster I illustrated for the fantastic Todd Londagin and his Big Band's Debut night at the famous Birdland in NYC! Being a jazz fan it's a BIG honor. You can see my illustration on the risers over at my Flickr pool too! Neat-o daddio!

New friends have joined the portfolio. Please join me in a down home welcome to illustrations number 27 and 28! Both images feature some fun loving kidlings. 27 was for a magazine spot and number 28 was drawn for my Alphabet Book and soon to be published. Portfolio Update - H is for Horse

New image added to portfolio. Image number 25 is from a online project I have begun on my blog. I decided to experiment creating a book that I would create page by page weekly allowing viewers of my blog to watch the progression. At the end the book will go for sale after being self-published and printed. So far the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive and I already have plans to do another project like it in the works. Update to portfolio section. I've added a new image to the portfolio. Image 24 is a greeting card I did for Paramount Greetings. It was my first card I did with them and I really was very happy to find out the assignment required robots. I love drawing robots! On the left in black and white I offered those four different versions as roughs. I work very tightly for what I send to my clients. I always want the Art Director to have a good feel of what the character will look like in the final product.

Site Reboot

Well seems I always head back to Flash. I was not happy with the CSS stuff I tried to hobble together with limited coding knowledge. Back to vectors to produce my website! I am much more comfortable in the flash environment and can rest easy knowing browsers are not interpreting the layout 1000 different ways. Take a look around. There is a much bigger image gallery with simple navigation and buttons to click and things to do!

Being a bit of techy/nerd I was please to see a small write up on WIRED about the STARTMOBILE cel company that I did some illustration for. I was even more excited to see they decided to display one of my images with the story. Coooool! I am a geek, yes I am.

Being a fan of 1940-1960's illustration I love the work of Jim Flora and Alex Steinweiss. One thing I know I missed the boat on that these illustrators had lots of opportunity to illustrate was record covers. Well, I got the opportunity to provide a fun Christmas album cover for a fantastic website called falalalala.com . You can download my cover (and the excellent music) for this years 2005 ADVENTure in Carols. I hope you like my Santa. It was fun to design in a format that I felt sailed before I could get the opportunity to experiment in it.

I've been producing a lot of great work for Paramount Greetings in the greeting card field. This is a dream come true for me as I've always aimed at getting into the market. If you have a Card Smart store in your area do a little digging your sure to come up with some of my work.

I am just putting the finishing touches on what is sure to be the silliest book I've ever illustrated. It's a children's science reader about petrified poo poo. More details to come on where you can pick up your copy!
